Flymo may be best known for their hover lawn mowers, which hover on a cushion of air rather than using wheels, yet they also sell a wide range of wheeled mowers too. These come with the same Flymo hallmarks including great cutting performance, durable hardware, and easy operation, all available for a reasonable price.
The Flymo Speedi-Mo 360C is a rotary electric mower designed for medium and large size gardens. It has a powerful motor, various cutting heights, and is available for a great price, making it a worthwhile ivestment for anyone seeking a reliable mower for their lawn maintenance.
Let’s take a closer look at the Flymo Speedi-Mo 360C to see what it has to offer:
Flymo Speedi-Mo 360c Features
- 1500W Electric Motor
- 12m Cable
- 36cm Cutting Width
- 5 Cutting Heights (20mm to 60mm)
- 40L Grass Box
Motor and Power
The Speedi-Mo 360C is fitted with a robust 1500W electric motor, producing an impressive blade speed of 3700rpm. This motor is excellent quality, providing ample cutting power for lawns of varying condition, making it a good choice for people that let their grass grow longer or have lots of weeds on their lawn.
Of course, it is also perfect for well-maintained lawns too, with the cutting power producing a great finish on every type of lawn.
Like any corded mower, the motor requires a connection to mains power to operate, with the Speedi-Mo 360C coming with a 12m cable. This cable is longer than most other electric mowers, which are usually about 10m, giving extra reach for those areas further away from the property.
This is certainly useful considering that the mower is designed for medium and large lawns, offering additional manouvreability that can be lacking when mowing across a larger surface area. Expect it to work well in areas between 250-300m2, and it can certainly be used for smaller lawns, although the wider cutting deck does mean it could be tricky to operate in tight spaces.
As mentioned, the Speedi-Mo 360C has a wide cutting deck, with a 37cm steel blade used to mow through the grass. This is a good blade width for medium and large sized lawns, offering enough coverage to mow through large areas of the lawn in just one pass.
This helps to keep mowing times down, especially on larger areas closer to 300m2, saving you a lot of time and effort, especially if the grass is more overgrown than normal.
The blade is great quality, as is standard with Flymo mowers, producing a precise cut across the grass blade for a uniform finish. Better still, replacement blades are available for a low price and widely available, although it is unlikely to need replaced any time soon – expect the blade to maintain its sharpness for several years at minimum.
You always want a lawn mower with multiple cutting heights, as it lets you leave the grass as long or short as needed throughout the year. For instance, spring and summer see grass growing much faster, so you usually mow it more frequently, which is the best time to keep the blade height short for a close cut finish.
Other times, such as after winter, the grass is longer than usual so you need to keep it longer, as cutting it too short can leave it looking patchy, which is where higher blade positions are best used.
The Speedi-Mo 360C covers all requirements, with five blade positions that are easily adjusted via a lever system on the left side of the cutting deck. Settings range from 20mm on the low end and 60mm on the high end, allowing you get the right finish for every situation.
While Flymo hover mowers are often considered the easiest to operate, their rotary models such as the Speedi-Mo 360C also come with a user-friendly design. For instance, the mower only weighs 11.5kg, which is relatively lightweight for a model suitable for large lawns, making it much easier to operate.
Usability is further improved throughout the robust wheel design, with the oversized wheels offering great balance and stability, including on uneven terrain. In fact, we are confident most users will find this easy to use on sloped lawns, as it weighs so little and is not difficult to manoeuvre.
Another great feature of the mower is the dual handle design, letting you power the mower using one or both hands. This is great for left-handed users, as many mowers have a single power lever on the right hand side of the handles, which can be difficult to maintain in a weaker hand.
This dual design generally improves the grip for both left and handed users, letting you get the best position for comfortable operation. Given that you are likely mowing on a larger area, mowing time will be longer, so it is good that the mower is comfortable to handle for prolonged periods.
The Flymo Speedi-Mo 360C does not come with many extra features, so there is no rear roller or mulching functions included. It does come with a spacious 40L grass box, which should offer plenty of capacity for all your clippings.
Some grass boxes come with a level indicator, which is always welcome when working on larger lawns, as these are more likely to need emptied before you finish mowing. While the Speedi-Mo 360C does include this, it does cost extra as the level indicator is not included with the base unit.
It would have been nice for it to be included with the base unit rather than charging a little more, although the cost is not too much and it may be worth it for the convenience. That said, if your lawn is mid-size you probably will not need to empty the grass box until you are finished mowing.
